Cheapest UK Flight

Your 'Must Know' Cheap Flight Tips

Many consumers have made a very big mistake in the past concerning cheap flights. They have believed the hype and assumed that the given prices for certain flights were inclusive of all possible charges and taxes. As a result of that, many have paid far more than they thought they would. On the other hand, there are some real bargains out there if you know where to look and how to spot them right from the very start. The maxim that dictates that if something seems to good to be true then it often is does not always apply to discount travel via the sky!

So then, are cheap flights really cheap? Consumers have been asking themselves that for years, and the answer to the question is largely specific to the provider and/or airline. However, there are hints and tips that can help you keep costs to a minimum, the best of which are below!

  1. Do not forget the tax! – The number one mistake that people make. Living in the UK, we’re used to the tax being added onto everything automatically, but this system is like the American one – tax is added afterwards. Take that into account if you book a flight directly from an airline, especially a self-proclaimed cheap one. The search and compare sites and larger airlines do tend to add the tax on before you see the final bill and not as you see it!
  2. Do not pre-book your seats – Yes, airlines charge for this. If you are travelling further afield than Europe then you might want to snag seats with your travel companion, but if you are confident enough then avoid pre-booking. Cheap airlines will charge you for booking your seats in advance, in some cases as much as £15 per person. An hour’s journey to Europe is nothing so save a little money! There is also a charge for luggage so work out exactly how many bags you will need so you do not take more than necessary.
  3. Compare, compare, compare – If you do not compare deals then you will not find the best ones, simple you would think… but then you would be surprised at just how many people do not compare the pricing of their flights. You could save hundreds of pounds so take five minutes to compare them every single time you book a flight.
  4. Consider a package deal – A package deal of a hotel and flights to and from your destination can sometimes be cheaper than individual flights that are booked through a search and compare site. Even if it is a little more expensive than just the flight, you can book the combination for cheaper than if you were to book them separately. You may as well make the most of your break by adding a little extra spending money to the fund after saving money on the flights.
  5. Fly on weekdays wherever possible – Flying on a Monday is cheaper than flying on a Saturday because the latter flights are more in demand these days so choose a weekday if at all possible for both flights in your round trip. Try to fly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays if you do want a nice smooth flight with none of the hustle and bustle of busy days and none of the expense either!
